How to style a bar cart

I don’t know about ya’ll but I love decorating with interesting pieces. I have so many items in my house that spark conversations I don’t think I’ll ever run out of things to talk about (sorry, Shaun). My favorite of all is…you guessed it-the bar cart! I bought this piece about a year ago and it quickly became my favorite thing to decorate and my guests favorite go-to spot in the house.

When it comes to pieces like this I try to make it functional yet fun. So, what do you need? Well to start-booze. Make sure you get the basics…vodka, gin, rum, tequila, whiskey, and scotch. If the presentation is pretty keep them in their bottles. If not, put them in decanters. Make sure to label the decanters.

I also displayed my coasters because I am very OCD and don’t like water rings. Bonus: They’re super cute! Along with the coasters I displayed the rest of my decanter tags. I put all of this on a lucite tray to keep everything neat and tidy because that’s what makes the left side of my brain happy.

Now that we have most of the fun stuff covered I guess we need to stock the bar with drinkware. I keep two-three whiskey glasses on display and put the rest in the liquor cabinet (along with all the liquor that won’t fit on this cart). However, I fully stock the bar with wine glasses and champagne flutes because my cart has built in spots to hold the stems. The whiskey glasses we use came in the set with the decanter (linked above).

Another way to add something functional but fun is to display some paper straws.

Are ya’ll ready for my favorite recent addition to the cart? These pineapple shot glasses!!! They are to die for. They’re brass so they’re heavy duty, functional, and so pretty. Score!

I always like to add something quirky to any room/area I’m designing. It’s even better if you can actually use that quirky something. In this case I added two things. First, the pineapple in the back which is actually an ice bucket. In my opinion an ice bucket is a necessity. I, personally love to drink champagne so I need something to keep it chilled. It also serves its purpose for people making mixed drinks. So, speaking of champagne…I added this little tray. I plan on using it for matches for our guests who smoke cigars or just for whatever trinkets I happen to pick up on my next HomeGoods trip.

Lastly, make sure you have mixers, fresh fruit and cocktail napkins. I like to call these the “garnish” of the bar cart.

That’s it! Now you have the perfectly styled bar cart. Cheers!
