When it comes to design I definitely have a few tricks up my sleeve. One of my most frequently asked questions is how to make your house look glam on a budget. I will be doing a whole blog post on this topic with a few more of my tricks but in the meantime I wanted to let you all in on my #1 design secret: coffee table books.
I use coffee table books everywhere. I don’t feel like there’s an inappropriate time or place to use them. I currently have them in every single room in my house. I usually stack them (or stack other items on top of them) to create a more put together look. You can stick with a certain color scheme or you can be eclectic with it (like I am) and mix and match colors and patterns.
I have linked all of the books I own for you in the widget at the bottom of the post. If you see a book that doesn’t look how it looks in my photos it’s probably because I’ve taken the cover off of the book. I usually like to peak underneath the cover which also helps when I move the books from room to room or want to swap out colors for different themes/holidays.
A lot of these are under $50 with some even being under $25 so you can get a few at once and collect over time. 99.9% of mine have come from Amazon with a few of them being from HomeGoods.
I used to do this with books I already owned and I would stack them by color even if it meant I had to take the cover off of the books. As time went on I decided to invest in a few designer coffee table books and I’ve never looked back. It’s become an addiction of mine. However, I have to say I actually look through these beautiful books and pull inspiration from a few of them. My all time favorite is the blue Valentino book. The photos inside are breathtaking and the book itself looks so chic.
Stay tuned for a post coming soon on my other design tricks! 🙂
