I was inspired to write this post after taking the last two weeks off of blogging. I was still posting on Instagram here and there but to be honest, I just wanted to disappear from the public eye. I took two weeks off last year at the same time and it was the best thing I could’ve done for myself. It can be draining to post every day for the world to see and critique. I try to be as transparent as possible with you guys so I’m constantly vulnerable and showing the world all sides of myself and all aspects of my life.
The first week I took off my best friend was in town and it was so refreshing. I was able to be present and in the moment. I was able to lounge on the couch for a full day with no responsibilities. We went to an amusement park and rode every roller coaster. We ate junk food and our clothes were covered in powdered sugar from our funnel cakes. We laughed until we cried that day and I just remember feeling so alive. Sometimes we just need those days away from our jobs and responsibilities to be kids again.
I know I signed up for this job and I wouldn’t trade it for the world but just like with any job and needing to take sick days or vacation days, this is necessary and so beneficial for me. Whenever I come back from these little breaks I feel refreshed and more motivated than ever. Thank you for all of your support and allowing me to protect my peace. I can’t wait to share with you what this next year has in store for me.
