Living Room Mood Board

If you’ve been following along on Instagram stories, it’s no secret that we’re moving! We just aren’t exactly sure where. But one thing is for certain–we’ll be out of this apartment by September. As soon as we started talking about moving out, I instantly took to Pinterest and started looking at different rooms I’ve pinned, what I liked about them, and what they all had in common.

All of the pins I’ve saved over the past two years tend to include these themes: wainscoting, white paint, limewash, fireplaces, herringbone floors, flowy curtains, wallpaper, gold framed artwork, oversized wood furniture, cozy leather chairs, books books books, brass fixtures, and lots of emerald green touches. You can take a look at my Pinterest here.

After looking at my Pinterest boards and realizing that the same things I wanted to do to my apartment two years ago (and never did) are the same things I want to do now, I promised myself that I wouldn’t let another lease go by without doing what I want to my apartment. Most of the big changes that I want to make are pretty permanent but I’m going to find ways around that, which should be fun, so stay tuned!

Here’s the mood board I created for my new living room, although I may do a lighter paint color if the new place doesn’t have the same amount of natural lighting as this one. I’ve been very fortunate that both of my New York apartments were corner units with tons of windows. Fingers crossed I have great lighting to work with in the next place, too.

I think this is a good start. I’ll be sure to bring you guys along and show you how to update your apartment without making permanent changes and without spending a fortune! In the meantime, I’ve linked some similar items/some of my faves in the widget below. xo
